Timothy (Timo) William Campbell enlisted in the US Army with an Option 40 contract (Ranger Assessment and Selection Program candidate) at the age of 18 in Tyler, TX. The recruiters tried to tell him he was too small, but he said “I’ll show them,” and he truly did. Ranger Campbell participated in seven combat tours as a member of the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. Timo later served as a mountaineering instructor at 5th Ranger Training Battalion at Camp Frank D. Merrill near Dahlonega, Georgia. He held his service in the highest regard. Timo displayed exceptional bravery in combat and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, three Bronze Star Medals with V device, and numerous other well-deserved medals, badges, and awards. Timo passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2024 after medically retiring due to wounds received in combat. |
