Seth Henke

MAJ Seth Joseph Henke was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, on March 26, 1991. He joined the ROTC program at the University of Missouri Columbia, earning a Bachelor's in Biological Engineering; he graduated in 2013 and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the US Army. MAJ Henke lived to serve his country and did so with honor and integrity.

MAJ Henke deployed to Iraq with the 10th Mountain Division as a Platoon Leader in the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment; he also served as Rifle Platoon Leader and Mortar Platoon leader with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard, in Arlington, Virginia. He was a Platoon Tactical Trainer and Company Commander in Alpha Company, 5th Ranger Training Battalion. His last leadership position was Commander of Blackfoot Troop, 6-1 CAV.

MAJ Henke's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, Air-assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, and the Order of Saint Maurice.

MAJ Henke always led by example and exceeded standards. He was described as "the hardest working PTT on Camp" and one of the only Officers to be certified to teach all 35+ classes taught at 5th RTB. MAJ Henke always had a great attitude, no matter the circumstances. Sadly, MAJ Henke passed away on May 23, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a great Ranger, leader, and friend to many. All who had the good fortune of serving with him will miss him.
