Ranger Vincent Castellanos enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman in August of 1999. He went on to qualify as an Army Ranger and completed both Air Assault and Pathfinder Schools. Castellanos deployed overseas five times. He was a highly decorated combat veteran whose commendations include Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with "V" device and with 6 oak leave clusters, Army Achievement Medal with eight oak leave clusters, and numerous campaign and qualification medals. Ranger Castellanos was a former Ranger Cadre from 5th Ranger Training Bn. Vincent served his Country honorably from 1999-2015. After leaving the military, Vince chose to continue his service as a Police Officer. Vinnie was a Patrol Officer and member of the Sherman Police Department SWAT Team. In October of 2016 Vincent was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Even though he was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, Castellanos refused to stop working for the community of Sherman. Ranger Castellanos, 36, passed away Monday, December 25 in Sherman, Texas after a two-year battle with cancer. |
