Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Bob Williams Message: We are prepared to dedicate the monument commemorating mountain Ranger training at Camp Merrill. The ceremony is set for Monday, 28 October, at 1100, in front of the Headquarters at Camp Merrill. The Honorary Colonel of the Ranger Training Brigade, Keith Antonia, will speak and the monument will be unveiled. A reception will follow. We ask, and encourage, as many of you as possible to attend the event. It would be great if you wore the MRA uniform. If you don't have it, or you don't even know what it is, don't let that deter you. We still want you there. Your contributions made the event possible. It's you ceremony. Please support it. If you need/want more information, please contact J.D. Kirby at ssgolfassn@aol.com or Brian Cunningham at co.2nd.rgr.co@gmail.com . |

"We were turned down."... a pin drop pause of utter quiet masked every face as shock and unanimous disbelief rumbled greatly then with all present. (Our optimistic efforts and deliberate care of JD Kirby, Bob Williams and others, to be recognized by the Ranger Hall of Fame as a Voting Board Member). ...Unfortunately, JD Kirby was not present and Steve summarized the disappointment...Steve revealed some points that seemed curious about our 501(c)3 progress, then let Bob Williams, WebMaster and future Secretary, give meat to the details... ...an administrative detail about our Non Profit status seems to concern a financial authority representing the RHOF Board, in turn pausing his vote on our approval as a Member of the RHOF Board... the process is stalemated this season, apparently, in having our own representation... ...on a remarkably good note, Bob did give positive news on the near conclusion of our new and improved Non Profit status...we do thank those who contribute to the success of our efforts to grow and become more involved in the overall Ranger Community... ...(new coins are now in the considerable care of Bob Suchke...different from the Original Collectors Coin, now valued at $37 on Amazon)...a plus spot report for Steve Caldwell in referring Bob to our newest vendor, keeping our prices Ranger Qualified... ...with the election of Officers for 2016, Steve begins each with nominations and proper voting, including Sunny Bragg getting to vote on President, validating the acclimation already set... ...Steve Hawk, President...Chuck Windham, Vice President...Bob Suchke, Treasurer...Bob Williams, Secretary... ...In my time as a member of the USMRA, we have not had a more capable and solid group of Officers, and I congratulate each one...all fine Rangers Leading The Way... ...ideas for raising funds for our different opportunities, led to some interesting ideas...taking direction from such events as the Best Ranger Competition, held annually just before our rendezvous at Critter CookOut and the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, we begin to look for opportunities... ...with some stories of a Hungarian Ranger, funny shaped black beret, that recently passed away, we laughed in loving respect for such a short guy... ...February 6 is the date set for services at CFM and Gooch Gap for Craig Polzin, an RI many appreciated and respected among our members, friends and family... ...I have personally valued my time as Secretary and Treasurer of this fine bunch of rascals...I remember so many meetings, having recorded each one for factual accuracy...Since my first report at a Critter CookOut and I heard Steve Bishop holler, "Sound off like ya got a pair!"...I have spent considerable effort in coming out of my introverted shell... My protégé Michael James Ramsey later said, "You exploded!"... ...Bless Each and Everyone this 2016... ...RLTW... ...Lt Fuzz, passing the quill... |
