Message: Former 3/75 Ranger, Somalia, Panama, and Afghanistan vet SFC Larry Garner died at his home several days ago. SFC Garner was serving as the VTARNG Mountain Warfare School's Operations Sergeant. He was a personal friend and was a major supporter the 5th RTBn. Rest in peace my friend. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/burlingtonfreepress/obituary.aspx?n=sfc-larry-r-garner&pid=153042368

Message: Mike, that's a real challenge for this fellow. It was 51 yrs ago, w/ Ranger Instructors in your face and on your butt!!! May have been the length of the pool and don't recall a time limit, just had to survive! The guys who were designated "weak swimmers" had to put three of those luminous tabs on the back of their field cap. All others had two tabs.Jim RLTW

Message: For: Chuck Windham I believe that you are correct about the 1 hour time limit for that run. With Rifle, LBE and full rucksack (sand filled ammo can plus water rations etc), I remember that it was NO cake walk. That was back in the days when everyone wore boots to run in too. We had a bunch of ROK's in our class and if the ROK Officer didn't like the way his men ran, he would line them up and then knock them down to the ground with his fist. They would hop right back up, say something in Korean and act like nothing happened. The ROK's didn't put up with any $hit!
