Message: Fifty-two years ago, the Berlin Wall went up. Three Ranger Instructors (Sgt Fish & myself from the RMC and SFC Sandlin from Elgin) were assigned to the Sixth Infantry and there was, at least, not counting officers, one or two tabbed Rangers in each line company. I don't know about the other's plans but I had my eye on the marshalling yards in East Berlin as a good target of opportunity if the balloon went up. I was tasked to take two officers from Seventh Army on an intelligence patrol in East Berlin. One look at the brand new "flying saucers" and low quarters, and I "made" them as SF types from Bad Tolz. I got a bit pissed at the attention they were paying to "my" railroad marshalling yard so I dropped a few names from Bad Tolz and said I had "dibs" on the trains. They took it in the spirit I intended and the rest of the tour was highly technical.

Message: I was looking at the fallen list tonight and I didn't see my friend Sgt Danny Deyarmin. He was killed in a helo crash in the NG mountains in 1976. We were both in Charlie Rangers 1/29 Inf.
