Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Jim Owens Message: Doug, the “Theory” behind the Latrine in the middle of the Patrol Base is; The enemy will smell the Latrine from quite some distance away, then follow the scent, not realizing they would be following a scent towards a Ranger Patrol Base and once they had surround the Patrol Base “We” would have them right where we wanted them. Because they had not realized they had just surrounded a Ranger Patrol base, once they initiated their attack on “US”, we now had the advantage due to no matter what direction we fired in, we would hit the Son’s a Bitches. It’s a great tactical advantage to killing as many of the enemy as possible in the shortest time possible. Surrounded equals maximum effective kill ratio per rounds fired, it’s taught in the basic course, where have you been Doug…. |
