Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Mark Jordan Message: USMRA OCT MTNG 2015 ...October's Eating Meeting, on the OverHang porch was an incredibly delicious fine spread of proper Ranger Food...and around 20 or so enjoyed it thoroughly...Brunswick Stew that Gary Head had warming in a cast iron pot, over a good fire...Mike Keohane always bringing great eating, this time with sandwiches, hand sliced pork...Chuck Windham brought the amazing, award winning beans and super delicious banana pudding...Ed Gross's lemon bundt cake was absolutely mouth watering, just to look at...and that's what I had...for those not in attendance, more for the rest of us!... ...Chuck Windham, VP, led the meeting, asking Bob Williams to begin with prayer... ...Bob Williams later, as we got into our business, brought up our Coins to be resupplied by another company other than who we've initially used because of increasing prices...Doug Perry mentioned $3 coins and after some discussion on the merits of finding a new supplier, a tabled vote was forwarded to November's meeting... ...Presentations were made to those who have helped our group in different ways ... first Gary, Debbie Head and Candice Wells were given a plate along with the names of their family who carried the burden of this year's CCO...without their help, we would have not had the celebration we anticipate so much, every year... Jimmy Phipps and Kurt of the Little Indian Grill also were recognized as the source of our Fish Fry success on Friday night, cooking the trout in their restaurant at the end of Camp Road and hauling them pronto to the serving table at CFM... ...LTC Scarpulla, outgoing Commander of 5th RTB and Union County Sign Crew were also recognized with plates... ...JD Kirby updated us on our progress towards a seat with the Ranger Hall of Fame Board, as a voting member...all seems to be moving ahead and we look forward to a successful result of this great effort of both JD and Bob Williams in orienting our organization toward this goal of legitimization and respect... ...JD states that whoever will be our Representative on the Board still needs deciding, which is to come in our next meeting, November 5... ...Chuck Windham reminds us that consideration for nominations of Officers needs to be done now as we'll vote soon, November or December's Meeting... ...Lt Fuzz talked of sponsors being recognized on our CCO T shirts, offering to explore how we can use the idea Al Brashier presented a few years ago...approval given to proceed... ...the Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall was next discussed with Chuck Windham and Bob Williams both giving needed information for participation and attending the event as the annual Sorghum Festival will be on the weekend while the Memorial will be in Meeks Park...the laying of a wreath for Hotel Co/75th Rangers, who have 41 listed on the a Wall, will be accomplished as well... ...Noah Steinberg mentioned the young soldier's memorial on Camp Road, that was held Monday, 28 October...our sympathy for each one involved and their families... ...Chuck says that 282 acres that belonged to the USFS now is the Army's CFM...Doug Perry added some anecdotes and our meeting wound to an end... ...once more Chuck thanked those folks providing delicious food once again for a great time on the back porch of the OverHang... ...all the news that's fit to print...respectfully as I can...RLTWATS! ...Lt Fuzz, Secretary |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Steve Bump Message: I'm really sad to hear that Joe had gone to see the Big Ranger. We were part of the original 1st Bn cadre at Benning, before moving to Stewart. Some years later we were together at NWTC in Alaska, and on the High-Altitude Rescue Team together. Joe was a great guy and always calm regardless of the situation. We'd often hunt together; he liked to come over after hunting and my wife would fix ham, eggs and toast because he always said that "breakfast was his favorite supper." There are a lot of times that we enjoyed together in Alaska, both on and off duty. While with Florida Camp I brought a class through training, and at MRC spent time over at Joe's house and enjoyed the family's hospitality. His work after retirement has been a credit to him and I wish the best for the family. Keep Leading The Way, Ranger....we'll all be there sometime. -SGM (Ret) Steve Bump |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Joey B King Message: Thanks Bob, but that's not what I am after. I do not want to nominate anyone. What I want to do is put a deceased Ranger's name "Unit Roster" tab. There is a list of a couple hundred deceased Rangers but no means of submitting names as far as I can see. Does that clear it up? Joey |
