Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Willard Langdon Message: I received a call tonight from L/Col Waters in Virginia regarding CSM Mattison. I never met him in person, but I have heard so many positive things about him from fellow Rangers. I'm so glad to see Rangers like Doug and others who are sharing with the rest of us things about his life. I have found that Rangers always come together to support one of their own during both good and sad times. I pray that God will comfort his family during this time. He will be dearly missed by all Rangers. There's no doubt his footprints will always be at CFM and the mountains of North Georgia. The 23rd Psalm should always bring us comfort in times of sorrow. |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Bob Suchke Message: It is very sad for me to learn of Jim Waters passing. I knew him from several assignments and we were good friends. I jokingly always called him "Muddy Waters" and we stayed in touch over the years. He gave me one of his Biet Dong Quan - Vietnamese Ranger Badges for my collection and it is a prized keepsake. I will certainly miss him. I share in the grief of his loss, but I know he is up there with the 'Big Ranger in the Sky'. RLTW! |

To all others, Joe and I have walked patrols together all over North Georgia, as well as Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah. We also served together in 3rd Ranger Battalion back in the late 80s to early 90s. If you know Joe and haven't seen him lately, take my word for it, he hasn't changed a bit. Still looks like he did 20 years ago. As for me, well...at least I still have most of my hair and teeth left. Thanks again Joe....Joe |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Joe Mattison Message: Go ahead and tell me I have a bad memory, but I'll tell you what, I didn't lose a SGM or CSM somewhere. I know how to maintain the "headcount". I attribute it all to my new memory enhancing medication called "Cealis". Jan keeps herself locked in the bathroom and our dog runs out to the garage, but It sure does help the memory!! Yeah boy...never felt stronger....now, where the heck is Jan at..... |
