Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: "Originals" of the Regiment Message: "Originals" of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Special Troops, and Regimental HQ,....those who served the first two (2) years of each of their activation are invited to an "Originals" ICEBREAKER Social on 25 July at the Ft Benning Officer's Club, right after the Regimental (-) Parachute Jump during RR. Cost is $20.00 per person. "Originals" of each of the Battalions and the Regimental HQ can bring bring a Guest (Spouse, Girl Friend, Significant Other, "Ranger"/"Ranger Buddy" who may have served somewhere else or served in the Ranger Regiment at some time after the first two years. Perhaps served during Viet Nam or Korea in a Ranger Company...., perhaps served in SF or was a BDQ, would also be a great "Guest" of an "Original". Cost is $20.00 per person. Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Mark Jordan Message: USMRA Jun '13 Mtng ...Steve Hawk, President, begins the meeting by asking Bob Williams, Webmaster, to say the opening prayer...with about 15 members present, Bob delivers a good one... ...Treasurer report has us in the black and tax work has been prepared and submitted... ...general talk about the Critter CookOut until Sunny Bragg asks 'what are we going to do if it happens again?'...Bob Williams redirected the question by reinforcing that the very purpose of the USMRA is to serve and support the Camp Personnel and Families and we did just that...Bob Suchke and Chris Fuller concurring...Bob Williams continued that we are guests of the camp in the first place... ...Sunny continued that "it was too crowded" to which Chris replied that 'if it was too crowded inside, people could always go outside'...the torrential rains thru out the weekend made for one wet CCO...perhaps if Sunny used his prosthetic leg instead of having the bulky wheelchair take up room for three, he could also contribute to a solution... ...prior CCOs were talked about: the one where rain, sleet and snow blew the tent away; the one where Steve crawled under a serving table, inside the tent, to stay dry while Tommy Wilburn was sleeping on a cot full of water with only his nose and mouth above... ...New Business began with Gary Head's need for $50 more to go with the $100 to pay for a tire on his son-in-law's smoker that went flat while coming to Camp...Treasurer asked if he, Gary, wanted to talk about it and he declined...motion was made, seconded, and passed...now needing only a receipt from Gary for the financial recording... ...Steve Bishop was generous enough to buy enough of this year's exclusive, CCO T-shirts that Bob broke even on his costs... ...because of the July meeting conflict date with the holiday, Bob Williams proposed and made a motion to cancel the meeting for July, returning on August 1...quickly seconded and passed... ...Steve Bishop briefly speaks of his daughter, Ashley, having been a recipient of our USMRA Scholarship, is graduating as an LPN... ...LTC O'Brien will change command on 24 Jun and CSM James will leave on 18 Jul, retiring...both ceremonies conducted at Lower Mountaineering... ...LTC Scarpola and CSM Mickey Rutledge are the new Camp Commander and Sergeant Major... ...Steve Hawk asked about verification of the scuttlebutt about one meal a day being taken from soldiers Army-wide...Steve Bishop wondered why anybody had to bring that up and nothing was confirmed on this Army Urban Legend...yet... ...Bob Suchke remembered the Rangers scaling the cliffs of Point du Hoc, during D Day so few years ago... ...a WWII, donated, 5th Ranger Battalion uniform was presented for the Historical Museum and Chris Fuller talked of a display case to properly present and safeguard the item...Bob Williams and Bob Suchke offered their help, even Steve Hawk saying a few less GWTW dolls at his house could free up some display space... ...Bob Williams spoke about the sign quickly missing from the Fallen Ranger Memorial and choices about replacing it...Chris Fuller included more information which seems to be the way that the sign may return... ...Bob Suchke was the only dissenting vote in closing the meeting...next one is August 1... ...respectfully submitted... ...RLTW... ...Lt Fuzz... ...Treasurer/Secretary... |
