Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Joe Mattison Message: Thanks Ted. Great information about Col (R) Howard. I remember you speaking of him often while we spent numerous hours at the CP on Hawk Mountain. I believe I may have him confused with someone else regarding the vision loss in one eye, but I can't seem to remember who it was. On another note, and for all Rangers, 1st Ranger Battalion, at Hunter AAF, will be hosting a 20th Anniversary of "Operation Just Cause", Republic of Panama (Noriega etc,.) on the 19th of December. You can contact 1/75 for more details if you're able to attend. Hard to believe that it's been 20 years. Time goes by too fast. |

And let us all take the time to remember those who have given their lives for our country. Undoubtedly, each of us knows someone, or perhaps many, who have fallen while in service to our country, in its defense. Just take a moment to think about them. Remember they were someone's son or daughter, father or mother, a loved one. They were our brothers and sisters. "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Mike Keohane Message: Had a great time but, according to my scale, I picked up seven pounds. I know who to blame! Too many good cooks with nice things to taste. I wish that my grandniece had been able to make the Open House & the Cook-Out. She is "almost three" and a two-fisted eater. Took her and her parents on the Consolidated Gold Mine Tour. She "supervised" her peons as we panned for gold. When it was time to look for gemstones, she decided to get muddy and did most of the washing. I told her that she must visit the Open House next year and I will see that a "REAL RANGER" not her old granduncle paints her face and teaches her some hand-to-hand moves. Jim Regan, maybe we should do a bit more "mission prep" before next year. Dahlonega and Lumpkin Country seems to be unkind to old geezers. |
