Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Chuck Windham, Secretary Message: Hello Rangers, this is a short version of the monthly meeting of the USMRA, which was held at the Overhang, with President Hawk holding court. The meeting was called to order at 1908hrs on the 4th of September. Absent was Treasurer Mark Jordon, and Chaplain Willard Langdon. President Hawk began the meeting with a short prayer, and we proceeded with the meeting when the Overhang was not struck with lightning! A short treeasure's report was given to the 11 present. The association received several donations in memory of Ranger Jack Daniel. The minutes and the Treasurer's report was accepted and filed. Old business was that an official notice was to be posted on the website reguarding the November Meeting voting on the Scholarship fund increase. This was posted by the Secretary. New business is that the October meeting will be our annual meet and eat. No report on the RHOF voting yet. We had a surprise quest as Stephanie Bagley stopped by the meeting to thank the Association for her scholarship. (She couldn't be at the Open House). The meeting closed at 1949 hrs. |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Jim Regan Message: Read in the Army Times, my greatest source of info since 1990, third female "Stud" is in what they called the "swamp" phase. Got a kick out of that. Lots of fond memories of that phase! SMA Morrell was around forty or maybe more, when he went through Ranger school. Don't know about you guys, I was Twenty-two! A Congressman, Rep. Steve Russell, retired Army LTC., grad of the Ranger school,asked that the Army release documents pertaining to the performance of the first females in Ranger School. Good luck w/ that! A crusader, female grad of West Point has countered , requesting Russell's records from Ranger school.Another "Good luck w/ that!!!" The beat goes on! Can't imagine where the records for Ranger Regan from Class 1-1961 would be. No computers back in the "Olden Days!" A little over six months 'til Crutter Cook-out. Going to work hard to get there for this one. Maybe even get to talk with some currently serving "RIs." Ya'll take care. Keep your fire starters handy. Bad winter predicted. As we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of Christ Jesus - I ask everyone to keep our active duty and their families in our prayers. Many are protecting us in harm's way as we enjoy the comfort of the Holidays in freedom, which we all know isn't free. I pray for the safety of those who are serving; that God will build a hedge around them in their duties. We have so many homeless veterans - let us never forget the needy. Christmas is a time that we can find someone in need and help them. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I am so blessed to be a member of the US Mountain Ranger Assn. |
