Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Michael M. Keohane Message: Jim Regan : I had a very good Bn Co on my last tour. Our job was to help train the National Guard & Reserve units at Camp (now Fort)Drum. His standing orders was for me & my platoon to go out, observe the National Guard & Reserve units on training exercises and, if they are doing something wrong, give them a very forceful lesson to drive home their mistakes. Had a great time and really sharpened up my troops. Can't say the same about the National Guard & Reservists - they complained about how unfair we were - actually attacking them at mealtimes and kidnapping their OPs and the machine gun crews in daylight assaults. |

Alderman Memorial Road” In just over two weeks (on Thursday 18 September at 1:00 PM) in Bradshaw, West Virginia Route 83, will be dedicated as the “MSG Joe C. Alderman Memorial Road”. (see West Virginia Senate Resolution at end of this document) Linda (wife), Shay (daughter), and Patrick (Son) are all very proud and thankful to all of their West Virginia friends and State officials who made this dedication possible. Dedication: The ceremony will be held at the Riverview High School in Bradshaw, West (by God) Virginia, not far from where Joe and Linda Alderman grew up. Linda has already heard from many friends who plan to attend, and she asked me to put together a schedule for the event, which is included below this note. Schedule: The schedule below covers from Wednesday evening to Friday morning, and the Alderman family understands that most of you will not be able to spend that much time for the Highway dedication. But we wanted to let you know where the Alderman family (and the accompanying swarm of friends) will be, so that you can find them, whenever you are looking for them. I believe that the informal visiting time will be the best part of this dedication event. Hotel: Many family and friends are traveling long distances, and because the dedication site is in a remote sector of West Virginia, many will likely stay over night on 17 and /or 18 September. So I have taken the liberty of researching the best hotel to base from, in hopes that it will allow everyone to have more time to visit and talk. After looking at the options, it seems to me that the Super 8 Hotel Richlands / Claypool area (276) 964-9888 is the best choice, because it is only an hour from Bradshaw, and has the lowest hotel prices. (Less than $70 a night, if you make the reservation before 10 September and mention that you are with the Joe Alderman Dedication) Linda agrees with the selection of this hotel, and plans to stay there. I'm goin' to be real keerful comin' round those hills, on the way to Dahlonega. Don't think my Ranger pick-um-up could stand another trip, off road, on the way!
