The big problem was that, in many units, the EM, both RA & US, did not want anything to do with "second hand" Ranger training. Mainly because in most units, that training (sometimes called "Recondo") was in addition to not in lieu of regular training. The trick was, as Ranger "Sandy" Sandlin ( an Instructor from the Florida camp)taught me was never to mention "Ranger" but to teach them "useful tricks." Using Sandy's methods, I trained up my platoon and influenced the training of two Infantry Bns in Ranger tactics. |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Chuck Windham, Secretary Message: Hello Rangers, this is a follow up on the minutes I posted on 08/19/14. J. D. reports that we still haven't learned on whether or not we will get to be a voting member for additions to the RHOF. We could have a decision by the September meeting. Futher, we will have to vote to admend our by-laws with the change in the amount awarded to our scholarship winners. We will have to continue to find ways to fund our activities in addition to the scholarships. Some of our members have supported the association in the past with donations, but more will have to step up now if we are to continue the other activities we engage in.RLTW. |
