Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Bill Miller Message: Fellow Rangers, I just got off the phone with Nancy Powers regarding Ranger Jack Daniel. Nancy says Jack has recovered from the bout with pneumonia and this past week has told his physical therapist that he wants to start working on walking again. She also says he seems to have gotten his old Ranger Spirit again and making good progress. She also said that he will read his email so if you can send him an email. rangerjsd@aol.com I will see you BDQ in Charleston on Monday. |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Ross Hall Message: The Memorial was personal for many in the crowd. I knew two of the fallen and had met a third, so even I had a vested interest. I can't imagine how it feels to lose a comrade in arms, like losing a brother I guess. The annual Memorial is one of the best things this association does. Oh, and one of us makes some hellacious armadillo salad. Thanks Major Spies. I had a great time watching all those people work so hard. Good help is hard to find, but we seem to be blessed in that department. |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Jim Regan Message: Rangers, I'm going to do my best, not to "Tell War Stories." this year. It's been more than "FIFTY YEARS" since I had the chance to go through some of the "Good Schools" in the Army!!! Jump School at Fortress Campbell, and the RANGER School at Fortress Benning/MRC/FRC!!! A day does not go by, that I don't think about; what, or where, or how "Our" present day RANGERS, are being deployed. If any of you ol' folks remember, we were sent back to our units, with a "Mission" of training our troops! After I got my "TAB," I became one of the elite folks at my; Airborne, Infantrty, Rifle Company!!! Platform Instructor,Demonstrator for Hand to Hand Combat, Patrolling!!! I was "blessed!" In my outfit, there were , already, fourteen RANGER qualified NCOs, among them a MOH guy who taught me about; Demo, and Long Range Patrol!!!Picture that!!!??? My tour with the 1st Cav, LRRP/Ranger Company, H Company, 75th Rangers, and a "tour" at "MRC," and when you guys "shipped " me out, my great tour with the Vietnamese Rangers in the Delta/on the Border!!! BDQ SAT!!! It seemed as if I did not stop ; training, pushing, watching, watching!!! Develope the guys, take care of the troops.... Took too long on this, too much time on the net!!! Much dissusion finally produced an amended motion to increase the 2 scholarships to $1,000, provided the USMRA has the funds"... ...to insure availability of $2,000.00 in scholarship funding, please realize how rare it is that we have ever had that much money in our overall balance, and i assure the USMRA that i will not dispense funds prematurely for anyone... ...just so you know i depend heavily on that part, "provided the USMRA has the funds"... ...i say before awarding scholarship announcements, conferring amongst ourselves might help a bit later... ...RLTW...
