Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Ranger Ken Bonnell (LTC,RET) Message: TO ALL RANGERS: I am trying to write the history of the 34th Vietnamese Ranger Bn. Very little has been written about this outstanding fighting unit. I am asking that anyone who ever served with the 34th Biet Dong Quan (both American Advisors and Vietnamese Rangers) to email me with the remembrances of their time with the 34th. All donors will be credited with their input. Note: I am still trying to locat Sam Eads who earned a Silver Star leading a bayonet charge with the 34th at Loc Ninh in August 1969. I was the Senior Advisor to the 34th at that time. Please pass this message to him. Ken Bonnell RLW/Biet Dong Quan Sat! |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Michael M. Keohane Message: Just saw the "director's cut" of the 2011 Best Ranger competition. What caught my attention was the pulley with the big loop now being used on the water slide. In my day, we used a pulley with a small hook. If you had big hands, you might get three fingers of one hand around the pulley and wrap the other hand on top. The new loop give a nice two handed grip for the students. Anyone know when the new pulley was adopted? |
