Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Earl A Singletary Message: I was just informed that one of our members will be inducted into the Ranger Hall Of Fame this year. Ranger Robert Murphy. I was fortunate enough to have served with Ranger Murphy in the 2ND 502ND and as Advisers to the Vietnamese Rangers.I can not think of anyone more deserving. I am sure I can speak for all of us when I say congratulations Ranger Robert Murphy, well done. |

The North Georgia Airborne Assn will be having an Airborne Day Event at the Cumming Regional Readiness Center, 100 Aquatic Circle, Cumming, Georgia 30040 if you are interested. This event is open to all paratroopers of any service. There is an hour long program with several guest speakers to include Vincent Melillo, WWII Merrills Maurauders Veteran and RHOF member, telling his story. Program starts at 1130 hours. Membership is available to all paratroopers. See you there. AIRBORNE! |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Jim Regan Message: Have been watching and reading accounts re: the Female Soldiers completing the Ranger school. I agree w/ Mike, they look too well rested. I had heard that they completed the Florida phase on Monday, graduating on Friday. WHAT!!! Four days to recoup???!!! And they travelled in an air conditioned bus? Still remember. Last patrol in Florida. Got back, cleaned weapons, turn in stuff. Next morning, getting all equipment turned in, cleaning barracks, packing up. That evening the boxing gloves came out, again! Next morning, load up in 2 1/2s, head back to Ft. Benning. G I party that night, turn in all our web gear, compasses, etc. Pack/re-pack our bags. Final critiques for some Rangers, then waiting for the list to be posted in barracks. Following morning, graduation preparation & GRADUATE/TAB PINNED on w/a straight pin. (Major General Creighton W. Abrams pinning on the TABS!!!) Farewell Ft. Benning! Now that was back in 1961. Reckon things have changed. Jim RLTW/L&P |
