Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Jim Regan Message: Just finished "Ashley's War." A well written account, of some really tough Female Soldiers, CSTs. It shows that there is a place for the Female Soldiers, alongside Special Operations/Ranger units in some arenas of Combat. This does not necessarily support the thought that they, Female Soldiers, should wear "The Ranger Tab!" They showed that they could "Train up,: and sustain themselves in combat. As I told you in a previous note, I had the privilege of working w/ Female Soldiers, Sailors, and Air Men/Women. Both in "Go to war" MI Units, and at the White House Communications Agency. Never had a doubt that they'd not get the job done. Have not heard how the Ranger Suds(Female) have fared at the Florida phase. We'll see and hear about it I'm certain. Break, break. Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Marshall Huckaby Message: The LONG RANGE RECONNAISSANCE ASSOCIATION (LRRA) has purchased and placed a Memorial Bench at the Ranger Memorial and at the National Infantry Museum to honor the LRRPs who have served our Country. A paver has also been purchased for placement at the Army Museum being built. Chuck Windham and other USAMRA members are LRRP Veterans. |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Earl Singletary Message: Hey Rocky, Glad to see you are still kicking... As for the critter cook out I'm the one that brought this up. I feel like we had gotten away from the real reason for the CCO in the first place and that was for us Rangers to get together and enjoy each others' company.If you have it at the Club there are too many distractions. Also the strap hangers eat up all the food. The end of the air strip sounds like a great place to me and it should be the same day as the open house. There was a lot of discusion about whether ladies should be allowed. I don't care, but if they come they should have the proper equipment flack vest and helment. When Roger starts telling war stories a lot of shrapnel fliess around... Doug, remember the Hero helment we had at the club? |
