It’s not too early to sign up for the 2025 Hero Hill Climb happening outside the main gate at Camp Merrill on Saturday, May 24. The event is a great way to honor our fallen soldiers.

If you would like to participate but are unable to walk, run, or bike up the three miles to Cooper Gap, there is plenty you can do to support the event. Contact USMRA event coordinator, Joey Blacksher, and he will assign you to one of the many needed support roles.

The Rangers from the Mountain Ranger Camp did a magnificent job with the Military Honors for my husband’s funeral.

My family and I were thrilled with the display of precision and dignity both at the church and at the graveside.

I realize this note will probably not get to those directly involved, but I wanted to tell you all just how perfect the service was. Willard would have been so proud!

We placed a floral arrangement on 07 Feb 25 at the entrance to the DFAC on Camp Merrill along with a trifold display of Jimmies obituary, the Ranger Creed, and a short tribute honoring his legacy. Shey, the current DFAC manager knew Jimmie and his wife and was very helpful in placing this tribute display where all who enters the DFAC can see it and honor Jimmies' legacy.

He was buried today (10 Feb 25) in Wallace, N.C. He will always be remembered for his professionalism, willingness to help others, and dedication to Rangers!
